It’s been 9 years since the greatest to ever do it passed on. Let me retell a story about how he made sure he got what was due to him even when the system was against him. In 1980, the Grammys snubbed Michael Jackson's Off the Wall even though it was critically acclaimed. pic.twitter.com/SweKqkFlP5

He was & always will be like a son to me. Doing Off the Wall, Thriller, & Bad together required nothing but trust, love, & respect. Can’t believe it’s already been 9 yrs, but ur always in my ❤️. Miss you forever, Smelly! #MichaelJackson 🎥: @RecordingAcad pic.twitter.com/tOxJjeUXXE

Only met him briefly, but such an honor to have met #MichaelJackson (Neverland, ‘03). Anyone that knows me understands how I feel about him, the absolute, undeniable, GREATEST ALL TIME, a true pioneer, legend! #RIPMichaelJackson #KingOfPop pic.twitter.com/jtOXlCFuk2

The main thing I remember about my last night with #MJ was his look to me at one point in rehearsal. A look of triumph! As if to say to me, I’ve got this! I’m Michael ‘freaking’ Jackson! All the hard work & sacrifice seemed to finally pay off. And, he knew it!! M~#MichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/zchG9xcNFg

My friend and brother, #MichaelJackson died today 9 years ago. I still miss him. I did the eulogy at his burial and talked about his commitment to social justice. This photo is when he spoke at a NAN Saturday Action Rally at our House of Justice in 2002 in Harlem. #RevAlThrowback pic.twitter.com/TWut7asGfj
